There are many reasons why social media has seen such growth in recent years, but perhaps the biggest of these has been the transition from computer to mobile. Online is now the media of choice and with applications on mobiles helping more and more consumers to connect with their networks on the go.
As a result, we’ve seen online behavior increase around the world - and East Africa is no exception to this rule, with the social media craze hitting Kenya like a storm.
I’ve just returned from a whirlwind tour of the US with a quick breeze through London on my return. I did manage to fit a number of new business meetings in, but this trip had a slightly different focus. This time I got to visit my old stomping ground at Dartmouth College along with visits to Harvard, MIT and Boston University business schools. It was a lot of travelling around, but it was really worth it.
My trip to the UK last week turned out to be a resounding success for KenCall and was a great sign for Kenya itself. From the interest it generated it’s clear we are really starting to get through to the right people, in the right areas. There was much more knowledge of Kenya in the outsourcing sphere and people were very open to finding out more.
What a great week to start a blog about East African outsourcing. Having just returned from a meeting with some of the key people in the Kenyan BPO fraternity and the Kenyan Government, I’m really excited about the prospects for outsourcing in the country.
